Provincial Championships Information 2024:

The MAWA Annual General Meeting (AGM) will convene on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 12 pm, hosted at the Assiniboine Gordon Inn located at 1975 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. This meeting is the day after the Provincial Championships and is open to all.

Please note that this is a voting year. Eligible voters comprise current members of the MAWA board, past MAWA executives, MAWA referees (including spotters, level 1, 2, 3, and Masters referees), recipients of the Danny Altenburg award, individuals involved in organizing MAWA tournaments within the last 12 months (handling draw sheets, registration, and acting as an EMCEE), and those who have competed in a sanctioned MAWA tournament within the last 12 months. Individuals aged 12 and above are eligible to vote, reflecting the increasing participation of youth in MAWA events.

By-Law 3: To represent Manitoba at the National Canadian Arm Wrestling Championships, a Manitoba arm wrestler must register and compete at the Manitoba Provincials. However, exemptions may be granted in cases of illness, work obligations, family emergencies, pregnancy, participation in other sports, medical reasons, etc. A "bye" may be issued under such circumstances, accompanied by a $40 fee payable to the President no later than the day of the Provincials. It should be noted that athletes suspended from the EAC and those who have never competed in arm wrestling tournaments are ineligible for a "bye," with the latter required to have participated in at least one tournament prior to requesting an exemption.

Team Award - Most Points:

Participation in the Team Award is voluntary and meant for enjoyment and competition. There are no restrictions on the gender or age composition of the team, provided that there are five competitors competing on May 4, 2024. Teams can consist of five men, five women, five kids, a mix of adults and kids, or any other combination. Each competitor is required to pay $5, with the winning team receiving a medal for each participant and a portion of the accumulated funds from all teams. Teams must be registered with a designated name, such as "Team Champion" or "Team Smasher," during sign-up at the Provincial Championships on May 3rd or 4th. Points are awarded based on individual placings, with 1st place receiving 5 points, 2nd place 4 points, and so forth.

Additionally, MAWA t-shirts featuring the MAWA Logo on the back will be available for purchase at $25 each. Athletes representing Manitoba at the Canadian Arm Wrestling Championships in Gatineau, Quebec, over the July long weekend can wear these shirts.
